Take the Family are staying at Bluestone this week, so look out for our feature article over the next few weeks.
We're staying in adjoining Caldey Lodges with another family (friends) with kids of similar ages. So far it sounds like a good active break (albeit a bit of a foggy one), with lots of trips out and about, tons of time in the Blue Lagoon, and some indulgent spa treatments.......... Come back soon to read about Take the Family's Bluestone Wales experience. |

Returned Friday 22nd August from a week in a Ramsay lodge. Without a doubt the worst weather ever experienced on a holiday anywhere "November in August!" However, we had a very enjoyable week and in spite of the torrential rain and gales we found plenty to do both on and off-site.
Would give 6/10 at present as still a lot of work needs to be done. Badly lacking a good path network, especially the Nature Trail which was unpassable due to the depth of mud. As a result, one of the major on-site assets, that it is partly in a national park could not be accessed. A boardwalk would easily do away with the underfoot problems and should really have been made a priority on opening. At present most pathways are unlit at night and have to be shared with the golf buggies, bikes and vehicles -hopefully proper pedestrian pathways are being planned. The site is lacking in younger childrens facilities - very limited outdoor and indoor play areas at present. Hopefully there are plans for more play areas around the site. Also there are and no suitable slides for 3 to 5 year olds in the Blue Lagoon, though younger and older children are well catered for. The waves and the Lazy River were great fun. The restaurants and sports centre are good but lacking atmosphere at present - just bare walls and no pictures/posters on the walls. The food was generally excellent. Accommodation was very good, though still with teething problems. With the force of the wind, rain was getting in to our bedroom via patio doors with an annoying drip, drip, drip inside the room!! Once all the initial generally minor problems have been resolved and the place develops it's own identity and soul - it is not a Welsh Centre Parcs and should not be compared - it will be excellent. There are excellent facilities for all age groups within a short drive from Bluestone - Folly Farm, Dinosaur Park, Oakwood, boat trips to the islands etc - and Pembrokeshire really is a fabulous area, even in the heart of a monsoon. We will definitely return within to Bluestone the next couple of years and look forward to seeing the expected improvements. |

Check out our feature on our recent stay at Bluestone: 2 Families, 5 Kids and 2 Lodges during a rather wet week in August.
Also, did you know that from December 6th Bluestone are covering a 150ft slope in real snow for five weeks! (Using award winning snow experts!) If you fancy a guaranteed white Christmas (as opposed to an inevitable mild and grey one) then you know where to go without the need for peak season air travel. Completely brilliant Wintertainment! |

Following Take the Family's stay in September 2008, we're pleased to let you know that Bluestone is going from strength to strength.
Abby Flanagan, a travel writer at The Guardian, has been to stay with her extended family, for a festive winter break, and loved it. "Holiday parks aren't known for their eco credentials, but Bluestone in Pembrokeshire fuses sustainability with dozens of activities, a spa and top-notch accommodation." "...After a final morning of family snow and bike action, the lure of the Well Spa proved irresistible. Recharging our batteries in the tranquil saunas, steam rooms and outdoor hydrotherapy pool (while the boys continued to run down theirs with football, snooker, tennis and more in the Junior Rangers' kids' club) was bliss. As for treatments? My Terrake Magica massage and facial involved hot stones, warm oil and a therapist with healing hands - but that's all I remember. I drifted off after 10 minutes."
