Autumn 2019 will see the opening of both a brand-new Star Wars land and the world's first official Star Wars-themed hotel, both at Florida’s Walt Disney World.
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the new land, will feature several all-new Star Wars attractions, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, hurling you through hyperspace, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, immersing you in a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and a Star Wars themed cantina where you can mingle with all manner of space aliens in the style of the films.
Meanwhile, the themed hotel, linked by shuttle to Galaxy's Edge, is expected to be fairly compact by the usual Disney hotel standards, suggesting that it will be a premium product with pricing to match. Accommodation will include cabin windows and ‘launch pods’, adding to the immersive nature of the entire Star Wars experiences at Walt Disney World, and there will be character encounters at the hotel.
Opened in 1971, the ever-expanding Walt Disney World Florida resort contains four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom) two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), more than 25 themed resort hotels, several non-Disney hotels, golf courses, a camping resort and the Disney Springs outdoor shopping centre.
